guitar close up - learn to play music

Edward takes students from ages 16 and up, specializing in teaching adults.

“I teach you how not to be afraid of either your instrument or yourself. Mostly I teach you how to be patient with yourself. You can make music so you can share with others or just have the satisfaction of having played it yourself.

With your determination to learn, you could be playing chords to familiar songs within a three-month block of time. Who knows, you might even get a chance to sing with your playing!

It takes time and patience.
Now is the time you have to begin.
Lessons are 30 or 60 minutes, weekday evenings.

Guitar and Ukelele

Depending on your level (Beginner or intermediate) you will learn, chords, changing chords, chord sequences in songs, fret positions, strumming and rhythm patterns, finger strengthening exercises, ways to do scales that won’t bore you to tears. How to turn practice into play.
As you develop, we will work on the basics of fingerpicking style playing and alternate tunings.

Music Theory

With your determination to learn, you could be playing chords to familiar songs within a three-month block of time. Music theory is part of the process of learning your instrument. Who knows, you might even get a chance to sing with your playing!

Songwriting and Composition

If you’re interested in songwriting, starting with the process of getting your ideas on paper, in your instrument and out of your voice – you’ll learn the basics of form, word rhythm, rhyme schemes, chord sequences, melody and rhythm, and ways to make the images of your ideas more effective. Ten percent inspiration, ninety percent perspiration!”

We can start the journey from there.
